WordPress powers over 43% of all websites on the internet. If you have just purchased a shared hosting plan and want to build a blog, business site, or e-commerce store, installing WordPress is your very first step.
While you can install WordPress manually by uploading the core files and creating databases in MySQL, there is a much faster way. Most modern hosting providers offer a tool called **Softaculous Apps Installer** inside cPanel. This tool lets you configure and launch a WordPress site in less than 2 minutes. Let's look at how.
Step 1: Open Softaculous in cPanel
Log into your cPanel account. Scroll down to the bottom section, which is usually labeled **"Softaculous Apps Installer"** or **"Software"**.
Under this section, click on the **WordPress** icon. This will open the Softaculous WordPress installation dashboard.
Step 2: Start the Installation
On the WordPress screen, click the blue **Install Now** button. This will open the installation settings page where you will configure your site details.
Step 3: Configure Installation Settings
Fill in the configuration fields carefully:
-
Choose Protocol: Select
https://. At Aryanispe Host, we offer a Free AutoSSL certificate with every plan, so your site will be secure immediately. - Choose Domain: Select the domain name on which you want to install WordPress.
-
In Directory: Keep this field **empty**. If it says
wp, delete it. If you keep "wp" in this field, your site will install at `yourdomain.com/wp` instead of your root domain. - Site Name & Description: Enter your website's name and slogan. (You can change this later in WordPress settings).
- Admin Username & Password: Change the username from "admin" to something unique (for security), and configure a strong password. **Do not use simple passwords!**
- Admin Email: Enter your active email address. If you forget your password, the reset link will be sent here.
🔒 Critical Security Tip:
Avoid using "admin" or your site name as your username. Brute-force bots crawl the web constantly trying to guess credentials for "admin" usernames. Using a custom username makes your site 10x harder to hack.
Step 4: Click Install & Test
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click **Install**. Softaculous will verify your directory settings and start unpacking the installation files.
Within 10 to 30 seconds, you will see a success message that says: *"Administrative URL: https://yourdomain.com/wp-admin/"*.
Click on the administrative URL to go directly to your WordPress dashboard. You're ready to start choosing themes, installing plugins, and writing posts!
